“I was the classic 40 something fulltime working mother of 3.5 year old twins, who was unable to lose the baby weight. I looked in the mirror a few months ago and decided that I didn’t want to be the person looking back at me. I have always hated gyms- feeling too self conscious and totally uncoordinated to even attempt an aerobics class. Time was also an issue – never enough and it was the excuse I used not to exercise at all.

I will admit that I was apprehensive about working with a personal trainer thinking it sounded too posh and I was worried about my commitment. I had tried in the past to diet, swim and run but after a few days I always gave up. To be honest I could never run as I smoked and would get out of breath really easily. David arrived the first afternoon for an initial consultation and we went through all my medical history, diet, lifestyle and what I wanted to get out of training with him. He is a guy that immediately puts you at ease and was really non-judgmental about my lifestyle- which helped. He is a fabulous motivator and that is exactly what I need, someone committed to getting me back into shape.

We started working in February 2011 and we meet every week and have a great time. I can’t believe that I actually enjoy each session. He is really knowledgeable about the body and explains everything about each exercise and what it is doing for you. We work on all the muscle groups and I have lost weight but more importantly have really toned up.

I gave up smoking a month ago and yesterday I ran for 10 minutes non-stop- it may not sound very much for some people but up until a couple of months ago I could only run for 30 seconds without needing to stop and wanting to throw up. That is David’s gift- he encourages you to achieve goals, he always makes the sessions interesting with equipment when they first appear out of the back of his van look like instruments of torture and he knows your limits. He comes to my house which is a real help, or we go to the local park to mix things up. I have also discovered I am really good at boxing! I feel fantastic, I am more confident when I walk down the street- I just feel good about myself again which I haven’t done for such a long time. I cannot recommend David enough- he is great guy, really patient and is a true professional. “

“I was apprehensive at first, imagining a GI Joe turning up at my door and screaming at me for an hour until I cracked… but I had absolutely no need to be nervous. David is exceptionally friendly, professional and not intimidating in the slightest. I have now been training with David since January of this year and, not only has every single session been great fun (honestly!), but the whole experience has been such a positive move for my general state of health, fitness and weight loss.

I lost a stone in the first month alone which ticked the box in respect of my first goal. I had never used a personal trainer beforehand – although I did have several failed gym memberships behind me – every gym as stiflingly uninspiring as the next. This is a really great way of keeping in shape and enjoying the great outdoors. If you had asked me before whether I would find anything rewarding or pleasurable about training at 6.30am I would have laughed … but I do, and I can assure you that I am no gym bunny – I am a very normal 30 something professional who spends a great deal of time behind a desk in the City.

David is great on the variety of exercises he chooses which keeps it all new and interesting. He is great at pushing you just hard enough each time to see progress (and feel it the next day or two) but not to go beyond your capabilities. His van impressively contains every workout tool you can imagine. I am a fan of the boxing myself. I cannot recommend David enough – it will be one of the best decisions you ever make if you sign up.”

“For the last year I’ve been complaining about putting on weight and not getting enough exercise blaming a lack of time due to the pressure of my job, excuses kept getting in the way so I contacted David for some help to motivate me and get me back into shape to improve my health and feel good about myself physically. He is determined, and he really knows his stuff, which means that not only can I enjoy training with him, I can enjoy learning about what I am doing at the same time. He’ll make sure to do what you want and keep things interesting while making sure it doesn’t harm you if you have an injury. In my case I have a bad lower back and he is constantly aware of that. He is a caring and reliable trainer for all types of people, understanding and kind but also tough when needed.
